CICB - Energizing the Brazilian Leather Industry
The Centre for the Brazilian Tannery Industry (CICB) is a national organization that strives to bring the Brazilian tanning industry closer to the culture of fashion and design. It has been an official representative entity of all Brazilian tanneries for over 57 years now, promoting the sector in both domestic and international markets.
Brazil is currently the world’s second largest leather producer and third largest exporter. The CICB along with Apex-Brasil started a project called Brazilian Leather in 2000, aimed exclusively towards linking Brazilian companies to leather’s internationalization. The CICB is seen as a Brazilian leather industry patrimony that has triggered tremendous growth and development.
As part of an effort to bring Brazilian leather to the global market, each year tanneries participate in renowned events and trade shows around the world to exhibit their latest collections to buyers.
Two of Brazil's top tanneries, Nova Kaeru and Fazer Leather Co., were among the three Brazilian representatives that showcased their exotic leathers at events in Paris and New York this year.
Similarly, a delegation of 38 Brazilian tanneries is preparing to participate in the world’s most important trade fair within the leather industry: Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF), in Hong Kong. This is made possible thanks to support from Brazilian Leather, coordinated by CICB in partnership with Apex-Brasil.

Sustainability, technology, and innovation stand as their core values.
The Brazilian leather industry enters 2018 with high expectations as sales in 2017 hit roughly $1.9 billion. What styles will inspire leather fashion for Winter 2018?
